First Day In First Grade

This can sum up the first day:

It was wild, but amazing!  This group of kids pack a punch when it comes to personalities!  I have a range from super goofy to super serious!  I can tell it will never be a dull moment in Mrs. R's room.  I am dead on my feet, and extremely grateful for a husband who will cook dinner!

We started the day by getting to know each other a little better.  We talked about our summer vacation and all the fun things we did.  Tomorrow we will talk about our families.  With 19 kiddos it takes along time to get to know one another.

Of course we followed getting the 411 on each other by checking out the rules.  That went by way to quickly.  These kids were telling ME the rules before I even formed a word on my mouth.  Those Kinder teachers molded them well.

We read The Night Before First Grade and talked all about what we did last night!

We took care of some supply "house keeping" and took time to dance a bit!

After lunch we read Kissing Hand and started our unit on that.  These kids kept me pretty busy, so I didn't have a chance to take many pictures.  Tomorrow I will be better I promise!

Then the best part of the day....RECESS!!!  Since we are 1st graders we get to play on the BIG playground!  How amazing is that!  That in itself is a reason to come back tomorrow!  :)

I couldn't have gotten through the day without prayers, giggles, and Diet Coke.......

The first day is always the craziest and the most fun!  The best part of the day was getting to know these little ones and falling in love with their sweet personalities!

Side Note.....
I haven't taken the time to look through all of the blog consent forms (and I left them at school), but as soon as I do, I will share our cute 1st Day of 1st Grade pictures.

Design Star

I am super excited to have a new classroom “design” this year.  I was a little worn out with the jungle I have lived in for the past few years.  So, I decided to redecorate.  I have to say this is by far my favorite classroom layout\design I have EVER had!  I just want to sit in here all the time.  One of my favorite things is my new “create” workstation I will have this year.  My curtains (courtesy Mr. Robby) are absolutely awesome!!

I made these cute little owls for my firsties for open house!  They turned out so cute!

The classroom is ready and so am I!  I got to meet 17 of my 20 sweeties last night at Meet the Teacher.  They are all adorable and ready to learn.  I know that we will have a blast learning this year.  Rest up little firsties (I know I will!)…..Monday morning will come bright and early!  )

Who is Mrs. Richardson???

Well, it is the beginning of a new year!  One of my favorite parts of the new year is getting to know a whole new bunch of firsties!  We spend the first week getting to know each other.  I am going to start the new school year off right by letting you get a ‘sneak peak” into ME!!  So, who is Mrs. Richardson?  Well, here is a few Q&A to help you get to know me (the lady who you are entrusting your babies to!)
Name: Mrs. Richardson
Birthday: Oct. 11th
Family: Robby (Hubby), Brooklynn and Brynn (daughters)
Pets: 3 dogs—Oscar, Baylee, and Lucky; 1 cat—Sunshine; 1 horse-Dottie

Favorite Book:  Ok, I LOVE to read!  So, I have more than one favorite.  My favorite CLASSIC is Gone With the Wind and my favorite CURRENT is Juliet and The Hunger Games! I have a small obsession with Eric Carle books also!
Favorite Movie: McKlintock!  and Pride and Prejudice (the British version)
Favorite TV show:  Downton Abby and Pawn Stars
Favorite Weekend Activity: Hanging with my kiddos!
Favorite Music Group\Artist:  I LOVE music (although I am not musically talented) so this is a hard one but here is a few:  Train,  Reba, Gary Allen, George Strait, Coldplay, NKOTB!  Crazy list I know!
My Best School Memory:  In 4th grade I had and awesome teacher named Mrs. Hayes.  Mrs. Hayes always had us up moving around and learning.  One day she let us have a paper ball fight!  What??  How cool was that?  She was one of the biggest reasons I became a teacher!

I can’t wait to begin this first grade journey!  See you all soon!

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.....

My family and I enjoyed a magical trip to DisneyWorld this summer!  I have to say it was the most enjoyable vacation we have ever taken.  We all (even Mr. Robby) got caught up in the magic of it all.  We didn't stress and was able to enjoy ourselves.  I am posting some pictures of my favorite things! (Please note, it was hot, humid, and at times rainy, so glamour shots these are NOT!)
 The girls favorite...Alice in Wonderland!
 Aren't they cute??
 My favorite...Mary Poppins!
Beauty and the Beast doing my favorite thing---READING!
Gotta love these guys!  We waited over an hour to see them because it keeped raining and they had to take cover.
 Me, my girls and Minnie.
 Three Princesses!
 Epcot
This lion came so close to us, we could have reached out and touched him!  It was so awesome!

This was one of the last pictures on the last day of vacation taken by Brooklynn.  Can you tell we are tired??
